Join the residents and visitors of Annapolis and beyond as we celebrate the sixth annual Maryland Day from March 22 – 24, 2013. Maryland Day is a statewide holiday honoring the formal founding of Maryland as a colony. The holiday is celebrated with a weekend of activities, events and fun for the whole family. As various museums across the city, there will be guest speakers, special kids’ activities and live music performances. Read along as we take you through some of the upcoming Maryland Day Celebration events.
Chesapeake Bay Foundation – The foundation will be leading a hands-on restoration and tour of the Oyster Restoration Center. Dress appropriately and assist in the construction of concrete reef balls that will serve as a habitat for critters such as oysters, fish, blue crabs and more.
MainStreets Annapolis Partnership/ City of Annapolis Historic Preservation Commission – The Annapolis Historic District will be hosting a scavenger hunt starting at City Hall. The hunt will put you on the lookout for historic and architectural items.
Maryland State House – Go on a behind the scenes tour of the newest exhibit in the Maryland State House. “The Enemy Nearly All Around Us” chronicles the war of 1812 and how the Maryland State Government was able to protect its citizens from attack.
