The Navy Band Sea Chanters is the United States Navy’s official chorus. The ensemble performs a variety of music ranging from traditional choral music, including sea chanteys and patriotic fare, to opera, Broadway, and contemporary music. The Sea Chanters chorus is frequently found at the center of our nation’s most important events. At home in Washington, they perform for the president, vice president, and numerous congressional, military, and foreign dignitaries.
On Friday, December 4th, the Sea Chanters will be putting on their annual Holiday Concert presented by the Chesapeake Arts Center. Doors open at 7:30pm and admission is FREE. The concert will feature re-imagined classics like “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” as well as French Christmas carols “Bring A Torch” and “Patapan”.
The Sea Chanters are frequently found at the center of our most important national events, including inauguration day in 2009. They have played a vital role in comforting the nation in times of mourning, including appearances at memorials for the astronauts of the space shuttle Columbia and the presidential wreath laying ceremony at the United Airlines flight 93 crash site in Shanksville, PA.
Their Holiday Concert series is just one small part of their vibrant ensemble. Visit Maryland and let the Navy Band Sea Chanters put you in the holiday spirit!
